The Next Decade in Australian Astronomy

Aligned with the 2026–2035 Astronomy Decadal Plan, the meeting brings the community together across UQ, QUT, and UniSQ for a week of science, connection, and conversation.

Programme focus

Advanced Scientific Computing & Data Infrastructure

Modular software toolkits, heterogeneous CPU/GPU architectures, green computing, and AI in science.

Community, Culture & Diversity

Inspiring future scientists, equity initiatives, and elevating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander astronomy.

Beyond these focus areas, the programme will cover the full breadth of Australian astronomy, from stars and galaxies to cosmology, extreme physics, and planetary systems, drawing expertise from research groups nationwide.

About 30–40 minutes by taxi or rideshare, or take the Airtrain to the CBD.

Getting around

Flat 50¢ fares across the Translink network make ferry, metro, and bus trips between the venue, South Bank, and the CBD simple and affordable.
